Chances are, your passport photo is taken by Saeed if you live in Abu Dhabi and can afford his high quality services.
“SalOooOm, Weeeeeelcome, I don’t see you Maybe 7 years Now?. . . You came from America to take picture in suite then you disappeared. What happened?”
I went to see him 2 days ago @ his new studio opposite Spinneys since the poor guy was evicted from Khaldiya Palace Hotel where he had his little studio for years.
What was known as “Khaldiya Palace” is under construction right now. . . it overlooks Emirates Palace right next to Etihad Towers, which are also under construction.
I asked him if they have promised him a place once construction is over. . .He told me in his happy Persian/English accent:
“My dear, Reaaant is Keeeling me, I don’t think they will ooffar me a place with same reant as Beeefore.”
I felt sorry for him because Rent is truly exaggerated in Abu Dhabi. . .He is probably one of very few honest-to-god expats who came to this country to make a good living.
He is great at what he does. He is a professional photographer/ charmer.
Not many photographers make u or get you to smile the way Saeed does. When he instructs you to look left or right or wet your lips, you can’t help but smile.

Don’t take this entry as an advertisement for him. . . I’ve been to many photographers before. But I wouldn’t trust my face with anyone except Saeed.
After taking like 30 or 40 shoots from different angles and different shades of light, we sat on this velvet red/ black couch (probably from The One) looking at a flat screen on the wall where all shoots have been uploaded into a file automatically.. . . CoOoL
“Weealcome to the neyooou digital aage. . . . no film processing, khalass, finish, no chemicals, no noise, no having to wait long for your photo. Look I can do Many Things with Mac. . . . .Picture is very sharp and clear. See ”
I saw the shoots and I looked dreadful because of the few kilos that I added & because I looked tiered. . .
That Flat screen + Mac can surely show those wrinkles and dark areas around the eyes. . .

I remembered Seinfeld’s episode where Kramer looked terrible because he kept smoking them Cuban cigars and then said to his lawyer in a squeaky voice “Don’t look at me, I am hideous!!”
Saeed looked at my shocked face and said:
“Why you saaad? You don’t like picture? You can choose any picture you want. Don’t worry, I make you handsome, but u have to promise me you make exercise and smile, , , , Okey?”
I smiled :-)
How can I not smile to this comforting statement?
He chooses his words delicately in a serene way to avoid hurting your feeling and keep you happy and relaxed.
Today, I got my photos and I looked far better than what I had seen 2 days ago. He didn’t make me thinner if you are wondering, though he has the capability to do so. . . :-P

Regarding the Men of this country *lol* (yes its funny coz it sounds like your talking abt some kind of different species :p) i can't wait to read what you have to say .. coz am currently reading women are from venus men are from mars and i wonder if you have different thoughts ..
@ nooda: couldn’t agree more. Unfortunately, most people don’t know that. (i.e. passport renewal officers, HR department recruitment officer….etc).
