Last week, I was able to book AED 150 million in the bank as a deposit from an institutional client. The current market conditions drove banks to become desperate for liquidity. I am not a sales person or a relationship manager, but that didn’t mean I should tell the customer to go talk to the right guy. I am, after all, looking after the bank’s best interest before my best interest.
I brought serious cash to the bank and what do I get?
Nothing, Absolutely Nothing. . . .
Not even a fucking “Thank You, you are a great asset.”
Why are we underestimated like this?
Why is everything viewed as TOO MUCH for some of us ?
What is the POINT of having an EMBA? To hang it on my fucking wall ?
Do I have to have Blue eyes/ blonde hair to be appreciated ?
I sat with my Head of Department to discuss my reward & resignation. Egyptian, 2 years older than me.
Head of Department: Hmmm,,, okee. Well, lets see. You are entitled to 2 Basic salaries only. . .
Me: my basic is AED 12k. You wana grant me 24K against 150 million Dirhams I brought to the bank as a deposit? That’s not fair.
Head of Department: The policy says that.
Me: You can make exceptions for outstanding performance. The policy is NOT the Quran. and I wasn't born yesterday.
Head of Department: what about the rest of the people? What should I tell them?
Me: well, they should be as good as I am if you want to have a successful bank. And you should reward them nicely if you want them to remain loyal and hard working.
Head of Department: I don’t think so and I really think you should change your mind and stay with us.
Me: I rest my case, now I really don’t want to stay in the Bank if this is how you going to keep treating me. I will escalate this to the chairman himself if I have to.
And I left his office.
Today, I cleand my desk even though my last day @ work is Feb 13th. I felt Disgusted and didn't want to remain there at all. . .
two basic salaries MY A$$. . . . . .
I’ve done the following calculation which explains why I find the basic salary multiple unacceptable as a reward scheme.
Amount booked x .10% = what really be the reward.
Notice it says .10% (point 10 percent) not (10 percent)
150,000,000 x 0.10= AED 150,000
150,000,000 x 0.20= AED 300,000
150,000,000 x 0.30= AED 450,000
150,000,000 x 0.40= AED 600,000
150,000,000 x 0.50= AED 750,000
150,000,000 x 0.60= AED 900,000
150,000,000 x 0.70= AED 1,050,000
150,000,000 x 0.80= AED 1,200,000
150,000,000 x 0.90= AED 1,350,000
150,000,000 x 1.00= AED 1,500,000
I don’t really know what my end-of-service gratuity is since I am NOT allowed to have access to the H.R. policy manual unless I was a freakin Head of Department.
Believe it or not, even if they pay me (which I doubt they will ) 1%, only 1 fucking % of the 150 million, it is still way low than what they pay the senior expats as a signup bonus.
Signup bonus: is a sum of money given to a staff BEFORE he/ she actually start producing.
Nontheless, I am proud of knowing that I added value to the Bank. But extremely disappointed in how management viewed my request as something TOO MUCH for a hard-working UAE National to receive. I seek your advice.
Allah yer7amk ya uboya Zayed.
7asbi Allah wo ne3m el wakeel.

wallah im shocked i didnt know that UAE nationals dont get treated well in the UAE. ya3ni thats so stupid. in some places having a local who speaks excellent english and is also hard working is an asset that they will hold on to with their teeth.
i have a friend who workd in ADNOC. and hes local and speaks excellent english and gets treated exactly the same as being a blue eyed blonde. including stuff like 2 roundtrip tickets and yearly furniture allowance and stuff like that
wallah its a shame
@ 3anooda: I do know. its not about speaking perfect english dear. Its about getting a job done and rewarding it the right way. I did my job, but I didn' see a fair reward...
